In 2005, Mick Hucknall and Simply Red travelled to Cuba to film a very special concert in the old colonial El Gran Teatro in Havana. In a beautifully shot film, they perform classics old and new with native Cuban players and a string section, before sharing the stage in carnival fashion with classically-trained but newly-liberated exuberant dancers for the final numbers.

"No American rock group ever started with as much daring or musical promise as Blood, Sweat & Tears, or realized their potential more fully and then blew it all as quickly. From their origins as a jazz-rock experiment that wowed critics and listeners, they went on in a somewhat more pop vein to sell almost six million records in three years, but ended up being dropped by their record label four years after that. Blood, Sweat & Tears started as an idea conceived by Al Kooper in July of 1967."

"With the return of the punks in the mid-'90s came a resurgence of their slightly more commercial rivals, new wave bands. No Doubt found a niche as a new wave/ska band, on the strength of vocalist Gwen Stefani's persona alternately an embrace of little-girl-lost innocence and riot grrrl feminism exemplified on the band's break-out single, "Just a Girl." Formed in early 1987 as a ska band inspired by Madness, the lineup of No Doubt initially comprised John Spence, Gwen Stefani, and her brother Eric."
Alison Moyet - The Essential Alison Moyet (2002)

"When the driving force behind Depeche Mode, Vince Clarke, left the band just after the breakthrough success of their first album, Speak & Spell, it's probably quite fair to say that the remaining members were shitting themselves. However, history now shows that Martin Gore took over the songwriting duties, lending a more sombre tone to the band that went on to bring much - joy isn't quite the right word - erm, satisfaction to those with more of a tendency toward the maudlin side of life worldwide."
Gary Burton & Makoto Ozone - Live at Montreux 2002 (2006)
Video: NTSC, MPEG-2 at 4 933 Kbps, 720 x 480 at 29.970 fps | Audio: AC-3 6ch. at 448 Kbps, DTS 6ch. at 755 Kbps, PCM 2ch. at 1 536 Kbps
Genre: Jazz | Label: Eagle Rock | Copy: Untouched | Release Date: 9 May 2006 | Runtime: 71 min. | 4,06 GB (DVD5)
"Celebrated pianist Makoto Ozone and vibraphone maestro Gary Burton have collaborated on a number of occasions both live and in the studio. This concert from the Montreux Festival in 2002 is based around their album "Virtuosi", which combines classical music duets with jazz improvisations to stunning effect."
James Brown - Live at Montreux 1981 (2005)
Video: PAL, MPEG-2 at 3 991 Kbps, 720 x 576 (1.333) at 25.000 fps | Audio: AC-3 6ch. at 448 Kbps, DTS 6ch. at 755 Kbps
Genre: R&B | Label: Eagle Rock | Copy: Untouched | Release Date: 15 Nov 2005 | Runtime: 113 min. | 4,31 GB (DVD5)
"Simply put, James Brown is rightfully the definition of soul. He's been adorned with many a lofty title or nickname over the decades-"The Godfather Of Soul", "Soul Brother Number One", the Hardest Working Man in Show Business", Mr. Dynamite", all may seem extreme, but when it comes to JB they are well deserved. Few, if any, African-American musicians have been so influential in popular music. It has been said that no performer puts on a more exciting, athletic stage show than James, with Brown a whirling dervish, sweat soaked and executing incredible dance moves."
Darren Hayes [Savage Garden]: Too Close For Comfort - Tour Film (2006)
Video: PAL, MPEG-2 at 3 555 Kbps, 720 x 576 at 25.000 fps | Audio: AC-3 6ch. at 448 Kbps, AC-3 2ch. at 448 Kbps
Genre: Rock | Label: Roadshow Entertainment | Copy: Untouched | Release Date: 25 May 2006 | Runtime: 134 min. | 4,35 GB (DVD5)
"San Francisco-based pop/rock singer/songwriter Darren Hayes (born Darren Stanley Hayes) used to organize performances at home at a very young age supported by his mother, who became his first fan. After getting involved in school plays, the young and promising artist had the opportunity to join Daniel Jones in an outfit originally called Crush. They formed Savage Garden in 1997 in their native Brisbane, Australia."
Amy Grant - Greatest Videos 1986-2004 (2004)
Video: NTSC, MPEG-2 at 6 500 Kbps, 720 x 480 at 29.970 fps | Audio: AC-3 2 channels at 192 Kbps, 48.0 KHz
Genre: Rock, Country | Label: A&M | Copy: Untouched | Release Date: 12 Oct 2004 | Runtime: 106 min. | 4,20 GB (DVD5)
"Amy Grant began to outgrow the CCM market in the mid-'80s and hastened that development by turning largely to secular pop music, beginning with her chart-topping duet with Peter Cetera, "The Next Time I Fall," in 1986. Just as her compilation album Greatest Hits 1986-2004 chronicles that period, its companion video collection, Greatest Videos 1986-2004, presents the visual counterpart."
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars (2003)
Video: PAL, MPEG-2 at 7 334 Kbps, 720 x 576 at 25.000 fps | Audio: AC-3 6ch. at 448 Kbps, AC-3 2ch. at 192 Kbps, PCM 2ch. at 1 536 Kbps
Genre: Rock | Label: EMI | Copy: Untouched | Release Date: 24 Mar 2003 | Runtime: 86 min. | 5,96 GB (DVD9)
"Although conventional wisdom states that David Bowie?s strongest album is 1972?s Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, I humbly disagree. I think Ziggy?s a good record, but quite a few others include better material. Predecessor The Man Who Sold the World from 1970 seems superior, as do many later efforts like 1974?s Diamond Dogs, 1976?s Station to Station, and 1980?s Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)."
The Human League - The Very Best Of (2003)

Genre: Rock, New Wave | Label: Virgin Records | Copy: Untouched | Release Date: 29 Sep 2003 | Runtime: 116 min. | 6,86 GB (DVD9)
"The Very Best of the Human League is a DVD by veteran British Synthpop group The Human League, containing most of the band's music videos recorded up to that point, digitally re-mastered. The only music video missing is Filling up with Heaven from 1995 which was excluded due to a licensing fee dispute between Virgin Records and EastWest. The DVD also contains as bonus material 4 notable appearances on UK BBC 1 flagship music program Top of the Pops and two songs from a live set performed on BBC 2 program Later with Jools Holland in 1995."

" If you enjoy baroque comic opera, I recommend Il Flaminio. It is both entertaining and well performed. I tend to listen to the audio while doing other things rather than sit and watch the video performance -- which some people might or might not like. In this way I have found it highly enjoyable. "
